Fighting Back against the Minority Authoritarians
Our Democracy Depends on our Votes — Now More Than Ever
The current state of our Democracy was shamefully put on display on April 6 when the Tennessee State Legislature sought to expel three Democratic members for “violation of the rules.” In truth, the rules broken had more to do with their beliefs and race, and the undeniable fact that all three are not part of what has become a “Minority Authoritarianism” in the United States.
In an April 12, 2023 article in The New York Times entitled “The Republican Strategists Who Have Carefully Planned All of This,” Theda Skocpol, a professor of political science and sociology at Harvard, was quoted as saying that the “Minority Authoritarians” have:
“… figured out how to rig the current U.S. system of federalism and divided branches, given generational and geographic realities on the ground, and the in many ways fluky 2016 presidential election gave them what they needed to put the interlock in place. They are stoking and using the fears and resentments of about half of the G.O.P. popular base to undo American democracy and enhance their own power and privileges. They are doing it because they can, and they believe in what they are doing. They are the G.O.P. Leninists. This situation, locked in place by a corruptly installed Supreme Court majority and by many rotten-borough judicial districts … means that minority authoritarians, behind a bare façade of “constitutionalism,” can render majority-elected officials, including the president and many governors, officials in name only.”
In plain language, how does this relate to us here in New Jersey Legislative District 9 and the upcoming election on November? It means that we can no longer sit back and risk ceding control of our statehouse to radical Republicans who will change the rules at will, imposing on the voting majority of New Jersey rule by an authoritarian minority. It is happening nationwide.
It can happen here.
We must spread the word vehemently to vote in the November 7 election like our democracy depends on it, because it does. The best tool that we have at our disposal to drive the minority authoritarians out of our government, at the federal, state, and local levels, is to vote, vote, VOTE!
Vote for Gabriel Franco, State Senator LD9, and Sally Collins and Joe Atura for State Assembly, LD9, while also supporting your local Democratic municipal candidates.

Ocean County Democrats Announce Candidates for State Legislature
In Legislative District 9, the Democrats endorsed Gabriel Franco for Senate. Mr. Franco is an attorney and Democratic Municipal Chairman of Little Egg Harbor where he resides and serves on the Township’s Environmental Commission. He is also Chief Legal Officer of LatinoXRadio, a not-for-profit technology startup, and Jeff’s Camp | A Home for Heroes, a registered 501(c)3 dedicated to serving homeless and at-risk veterans. The endorsed Assembly Candidates in Legislative District 9 are Joseph Atura of Stafford and Sarah Collins of Eagleswood. Mr. Atura is a retired IT specialist and a public school teacher. Ms. Collins is a high school science teacher, as well as a Democratic State Committeewoman.

Is this the last straw?
A man who swore to support the constitution when he was inaugurated president of the United States of America, has now called for the termination of that constitution.
“So, with the revelation of MASSIVE & WIDESPREAD FRAUD & DECEPTION in working closely with Big Tech Companies, the DNC & the Democrat Party, do you throw the Presidential election results of 2020 OUT and declare the Rightful Winner, or do you have a new election,” Trump posted. “A massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution. Our great Founders did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections!”
And, he followed up, “UNPRECEDENTED FRAUD REQUIRES UNPRECEDENTED CURE!”
If American Trump supporters cannot see, at this point, that this man is a fascist and wants to turn our country into an autocracy, and they still support him, they are embracing fascism. We see them for what they are.

Apparently it wasn't, since the republicans will make him their nominee for President,in the face of all the incredible anti-democratic things he has done.

Sample Ballots for the Nov. 8th Election.
A sample ballot can be gotten online by going to the County Clerk's website at Office of the Ocean County Clerk and choosing the Election Services tab. On the front page of Election Services, you'll see a link for "General Election Sample Ballots." Once there, choose the link for LEH, or another location if you're not in LEH.
Today, the GOP is in a diseased state.
The the most urgent political task in 2022 is to defeat it in the hopes of eventually rebuilding it around its core, now lost values (family values and tradition, concerned with moral standards and civic character). The GOP today is much more conspiracy minded, anti-democratic, and anti-truth; it threatens “woman’s rights” and the state of sustaining election integrity and our democatic republic. Witness its prevailing anti-truth voices (Trump, Greene, Senators Johnson, Hawley, Perry and Cotton and of course the court jester Tucker Carlson) who have energized anti-truth candidates (Walker, Lake, Vance, Rubio) and a base around anger and grievances as a means to exact vengeance. Political change begins at the local level ("politics is local”). Yesterday I canvassed with a local mayoral candidate who literally knocked on doors urging her neighbors for a change. For those of us who desire to save our democracy and send the anti-truth party a clear message, canvas with your local candidate. We only have 21 days left.

Jeff's Camp - Pancake Breakfast
On July 24th at 8AM, there will be a fundraiser Pancake Breakfast at Applebee's in Barnegat to raise money for Jeff's Camp. Jeff's camp is being designed to be a place where veterans can go when in need of help for mental illness, addiction, homelessness and poverty. It is land that was donated by a veteran named Jeff who wanted the land to be given to carry out that legacy.
Veteran Support | Jeff's Camp - Jeff's Camp | A Home for Heroes. Named for late United States Army Veteran and helicopter Crew Chief, Jeffrey Allen Poissant (1961-2017), Jeff’s Camp is being designed to be a place where former US Service personnel can turn to when in need.

Hello everyone,
This is the first post on The Great Bay Democratic Club’ s BLOG. The Club is dedicated to promoting democratic values, getting democrats elected and preserving and protecting democracy.
With our very rights and freedom at stake, I think it’s vital to get as many democrats to vote, in the mid term election, as possible. It seems that if we don’t expand our majority in the house and senate, we will be powerless to stop the eroding of our personal freedom. Peggy and I, will do our best to get to know the registered democrats in our district (district 3) of Little Egg Harbor.
As the phrase “all politics is local” states, we have to do whatever we can to ensure that Tim Alexander defeats Jeff Van Drew in November. We’ve all heard people say that “this is the most important election in history”, this may actually be true of this mid-term election. The “Voter Resources” drop down, on any page of our website, will direct you to:
